Ready to Make Nice."

James Blunt, who was on hand at the announcement ceremony, capped
his stellar year with numerous nods, including best new artist, plus
record of the year and song of the year for his ubiquitous hit, "You're

Christina Aguilera - Back to Basics

When the buzz that Christina Aguilera will be releasing an album with a tribute to jazz era, a lot of speculations on how she will blend this whole piece together. Is she going to make this album jazzy/swing style or she going to mixed it up with hip-hop/pop and make it into a new sound? The answer lies in double disc of 'Back to Basics' album, Christina third album to date. For this album, Christina portray a grown-up look and stash away her crotchless leather and mulitcolor hair extensions.

(taken from nzherald.co.nz)
DJ Premier produces disc one and infuses it with sophisticated hip-hop cred through horns, crackling vinyl and old soul samples, a combination best summed up on the addiciting sound of Ain't No Other Man. Understand is another astounding example of her gymnastic voice suiting Premier's vintage beats.

The second disc, produced by songwriter to the stars Linda Perry using only analogue equipment, revisits burlesque, faux 1940s jazz and Hollywood kitsch. It succeeds when Aguilera invests her emotions without sounding overwrought - Mercy On Me , for example, is a great soul song.

Personally, to me this album is something different from the 2 previous album. In this third album, Christina singing maturely as she make her way to through track by track. As you keep playing the album, you found that you drawn by her voice and amazes how it blend with the music and the sound itself, but that is Christina. Her passion for music is something that no one can question.

Although this album is her tribute to 'jazz-makers' to 'ground breakers' such as John Coltrane to Nina Warren, Christina's favourite theme resurface again in this album; about her personal album, to which it will be something her fans can relate to her and their life. Song such 'Without You', 'Hurt', 'Mercy on Me', 'Save Me From Myself', and the song that penned specially for her newly wed hubby, 'The Right Man' will hit the sappy fans like me.

Still, it's fun to hear she coming back as truly singer with new sound and new look.

Here some of her photos taken for the album:

Conjure One

The first time i heard about Conjure One is when I heard 'Center of The Sun' during one of the Body Balance class. It capture my emotion in instant with melanholic voice of Poe and its mucic. I managed to dig about Conjure One and below info is taken from www.myspace.com/conjureone
I officially own 2 of their album; 'Conjure One' and 'Extraordinary Ways'. Both are excellent album.
Over the last two decades, only a few artists have had as much impact on modern forms of music as Rhys Fulber. Best known from his work in the pioneering industrial rock outfit Front Line Assembly, Fulber has also made a significant mark in the world of electronic dance and pop music with Delerium, his own project Conjure One, and has also become a respected in the music industry producer.
Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Fulber's appreciation of music began at an early age. By the age of six, Fulber was playing the drums, and at age eleven, was already visiting recording studios and discovering punk rock and new wave artists (namely DOA, Buzzcocks and Pete Shelley's 1981 release, Homosapien.) Fulber was still only a teenager when he met another local like-minded musician, Austrian Bill Leeb. who initially worked under the alias of Wilhelm Schroeder on the 1984 Skinny Puppy EP, Remission, before launching groundbreaking industrial / rock outfit, Front Line Assembly. The group went on to issue countless releases on a steady basis - including such standouts as 1991's Caustic Grip, 1992's Tactical Neural Implant, and 1994's Millennium, among others). Growing weary of the confines of the genre, Fulber departed Front Line Assembly in 1996 to concentrate on several other projects and record producing.
Despite leaving Front Line Assembly, Fulber and Leeb continued to collaborate on what became a more famous project; an ambient pop side project called Delerium. The act shot to the top of the charts thanks to their 1999 global hit, Silence," which featured vocals by Sarah McLachlan. As one half of Delerium, Rhys is no stranger to hit records, and as Conjure One (his current solo project) he has already scored a no.1 UK Club Chart placing with a package that contained remix treatments of the songs Sleep and Tears From The Moon (both included on the self- titled debut CD Conjure One). Centre Of The Sun also gained a Top 3 U.K. Club Chart placing.
Conjure Ones follow-up release Extraordinary Ways is set for release on August 30 (Nettwerk America), and for the first time in his career, sees Fulber on vocal duties, delivering a unique modern take on the oft-neglected Buzzcocks classic I Believe. As in the past, he also calls on the talents of female vocalists, including Jane (Endless Dream, One Word and Extraordinary Way), Chemda (Forever Lost), Tiff Lacey (Face The Music) and Joanna Stevens (Dying Light).
In addition to his solo work as Conjure One and long-established songwriting partnership with Bill Leeb in Delerium and Front Line Assembly, the multi-talented Fulber has also been a producer-in-demand for several years. His list of credits ranges from metal outfits Fear Factory (supplying production, programming, keyboards, and arrangements to such popular albums as 1995's Demanufacture and 1998's Obsolete, among others) Megadeth, Mudvayne and Paradise Lost to AOR pop acts Sarah Brightman and Josh Groban.
Below is the anime 'Metropolis' with 'Center of the Sun' song. I love this anime and the song!

Madonna - Chill Out

A few years ago, I pray that Madonna one day will release "Chill Out" album. However, it never happen. So I did my own compilation on all her down tempo track. However, a few nights ago, as my downloading and searching ritual for torrent begins, I found this album and i was overjoyed and its feel like god has answered my prayer. I dig out about this album and apparently this album was done in 2004 and that was after "American Life". And the people behind this album is unknown and altho the label of the album is under Maverick (Madonna's Record Label).
In this album, 12 of the track has been given a new breath of life without ignoring the original songs. It was not craftfully done to my opinion, but it something that nice to listen to altho some track could be worth ignoring for. This album also contained a song that was released along previously with the singles. Among all tracks, my favourite is "Frozen (Band Forgotten Mix)".
Worth Listening to:
1. Frozen (Band Forgotten Mix)
2. Love Profusion (Chill Out Mix)
3. Ray of Light (Dreamy Soul Mix)
4. Wonderland (Samuel Enchantment Mix)
5. Sanctuary (Maniac's Sacred Mix)
6. If You Forget Me
7. Paradise (Not For Me) (Morning Spell Mix)
Worth To Ignore:
1. Secret (DiFrankz' 2003 Confidential Chill Out Mix)
2. Beautiful Stranger (Harington's Organ-a-pella)
3. The Power of Goodbye (Dens54 Vascoteel Remix)
4. Love Medley

Pink - I'm Not Dead

Pink has never been on my must-listen-to-album after her second album. However, I managed to convinced myself and give it a shot to listen to her "I'm Not Dead" album (finally). As am writing, am pre-listened to all the tracks. As it goes along, i begin to like her style in this album. It completely different any album that she came out with. Brilliant idea to put herself back in the main stream.
The album's first single, "Stupid Girls," is a great dig at the silly behavior of the tabloid-crazed starlets in Hollywood; though on the surface it seems like a great dis song, at its core it's really an ode to female empowerment and smashing stereotypes. However, I'm personally don't quite agree as this for the first single. It should have been "Ur & Ur Hand" released as first single. It more PINK to me. Edgy, pop rock, raw and catchy tunes.
There is a few slow track in this album. "Nobody Knows" and "Dear Mr. President" is worth listen to. The latter song is one of the most poignant and touching song, which Pink performed with Indigo Girls in fully acoustic style. Just backing up with acoustic guitar, Pink rails against President Bush, attacking him on everything from No Child Left Behind to gay rights as she asks, "How do you sleep when the rest of us cry? How do you dream while a mother has no chance to say goodbye?" Though she may turn off some for wearing her politics on her sleeve, there's no denying her artistry on this song.
Another notable track is hidden track title "I Have Seen The Rain", a duet by Pink and her father, James T. Moore. The two of them harmonize the song in one take. This song written by James about Vietnam veteran.
Overall, this album is not a downer and each track is distinctive from each other. "I'm Not Dead" is co-written and executive produced by Pink. She's maturing and as both artist and individual without forgetting her pop root.
Worth Listen To:
1. Who Knew
2. Nobody Knows
3. Dear Mr President
4. U & Ur Hand
5. Conversation with My 13 Year Old Self
6. I Have Seen The Rain
Track To Watch Out For:
1. Cuz I Can
2. Fingers (I hope someone will remix this track, awesome to be play in the club)
3. The One That Got Away
You will like this album if on your shelf you got:
1. Kelly Clarkson

puracane

As you can see, since I've created my own radio station. Since then, I've been listening a lot to non-familiar artiste. One of them that I've found is puracane. So i begun on my quest to dig on who is puracane is.
Puracane began as a duo in 1999. British-born vocalist Ali Rogers and producer David Biegel co-wrote the album 'Things you should leave alone', released by Ubiquity records in 2000. Ali Rogers decided to take the project from the studio to a live act and in 2000 Puracane played shows with Sting and Duran Duran and in 2001 with Jane's Addiction and Depeche Mode. Puracane's music is featured in the film Driven and on Smallville, Felicity, Road Rules and Real World. Today Puracane are Ali Rogers on vocals, Juan Masotta on guitar and electronics, Drew Thurlow on bass, Andrew Griffiths on drums and Brett O'Mara on violin. The band just released a new album: 'In Limbo', a collection of songs composed and produced by several satellite members during Puracane's hiatus. "In Limbo" is now available at www.puracane.com , and soon it will be coming to the itunes store, CDbaby and other major music retailers. (Taken from www.myspace.com/puracane)
Big fans of Tri Hop genre raving about this group. Uniquness of Ali Rogers' voice are commendable and deserved two thumbs up. However, at the moment their album are downloadable via iTunes/podcast.

Shayna Zaid - Beyond Borders

You must be scratching your head right now. Who the heck is she? Why did I feature her in pink @ music. I managed to dig some story about her and i heard her music...
Born as Shaina Wan Zahid in Malaysia, attended Bukit Bintang Girls School, familiar face in local theatre scene, faces for some notable commercial such as Nokia, Dove, Coca Cola, Nestle Ice Cream and others. During her hey day, she and her sister Sarah, hosted a program called Speak Up, air on TV3. Get it?
Still no? Well, that is because Shayna has moved to Big Apple to try her pursue her passion in music. Her debut album was launched at The Blue Wave at Boston in Feb 18th, 2006 and the title of the album is Beyond Borders.
When I listened to her, her sultry voice reminded me of old jazz singers. She wrote all the 11 songs. Pretty ambitious for a newbies but then, she pulled it off with the music, thanks to her boyfriend, Jay Deasel who also looking after the aspect of music, production and technicality of this album.
I wonder whether this album will be in Malaysian music stores in the near future? Hopefully someone bold enough to bring this album in. In the meantime, you can get her album by purchasing it online.
If you want to listen to sample of her songs, please visit www.deaselmusic.om

No Idol for Malaysia?

There will be no Malaysian Idol for 2006 (which is the 3rd season here in Malaysia). Ahmad Izham Omar, 'orang besar' of 8tv announced at the press conference yesterday that Malaysian Idol will take a break for 2006.
Instead, 8tv going to concentrate on a new reality show called One In A Million. This show is a reality talent show that also open to local artiste and amateur. The prize.. jeng jeng jeng.. 1 million ringgit! According to Izham, this money will be use by the winner of this show for his/her A&P, Recording expenses and other stuff that involve in producing the album. Looking at the bright side, this might be a good show but when price is way too high, I guess the competition would be tougher that one can imagine! So, let us wait and see.. they called this show.. 'The mother of all reality show and will shake up the industry!'

Album of the month: Heather Headley - In My Mind

Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah

This is very catchy phrase.. Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah!

What am refering to is that Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah - Music! Well, this morning as i was driven to work, Ms Natalie of Fly FM gratefully feed my brain with information with who is the chart toppers.. and the winners is:
1995 - Madonna took no 1 spot on Pop Hits with 'Take A Bow'
This is when Madonna exploring R&B with the help of Babyface. I love this track. The video create a sense of love, hatred, anger and love again!
1997 - Madonna - 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina'
God, this is so drama and yet a memorable performance from her as Eva Peron. I'm so love the movie.
1998 - Celine Dion - 'My Heart Will Go On'
Beside with oh-so-drama-i-jump-you-jump phrase, this is one of the biggest hits of all time from the Oscar winning movie, Titanic. Until now in the 21st century, this song is still appeared in compilation of love songs.
1999 - Cher - 'Believe'
One of the must-have CD by every gaymen in the world (not all technically, only fans of Cher must-buy this CD). However, i must admit this track is simply addictive! Simply put me up on the mood of boogie-ing!
Do you see that all chart toppers in Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah - Music is all DIVA. But one of the most notable and successful Diva is Madonna, queen of invention.
Anybody know who chart toppers on 28 Feb 1996?? Shoot to me..
Til then..

Heather Headley - In My Mind

After successful with her first studio album, 'This is who i am', Heather return with new album title 'In My Mind'. The title track which a top five hit in Adult R&B chart, has won many hearts with it oh-so-drama-relatable lyrics. On 'What's Not Being Said', Heather uses catchy lyrics like 'Sent me a letter/With no return address' and 'I think I'm hearing/What's not being said'. She sang this song with subtle emotions but it gave a real punch.
There are 2 dance tracks in this album, 'How Many Ways' and 'Rain'. These two tracks are very catchy and soon you realised that you tapping your feet and next thing you know, you were dancing in your shower, especially with 'Rain' tracks. Heather end the album in absolute high notes with gospel tinged number title 'Change', a glorious tale of pressing on.
Nonetheless, critics gave an applauded for this album and noted as one of the many jewels of the primarily solid R&B collection.

Controversial Madge Video!

I've been looking for this Music Video for a long long time! This is first video for 'American Life' before the boring and mono with country flag was shot. However, this video couldn't make it to MTV due to sensitivity of its MILITARY, VIOLENCE, WAR theme and the ending of the video. But in this case, this MV is a 'Director's Cut', so you will not see shooting of you-know-who! Check it out! :)

Confession Of A Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)

This is Lindsay Lohan first single from her new studio album 'A Little More Personal (Raw). This song is written by her and apparently was recorded and mixed at the same time with only one take. So, according to her, this song written by her to tell her father how she feel. Very personal i must say. With Lindsay's husky voice, this song would draw you to her feeling.
Apart from writing song, this young lady also has mark another mile stones in her career. She directed the music video 'Confession Of A Broken Heart (Daughter to Father). This is must see video as the also as personal as the song. Watch out for Lindsay's mom and younger sis in the music video. A family reunion, maybe! I've watched the video and it gave me a big impact. I, myself comes from a broken family and i understand how she feel.
Nonetheless, this single is one of best track by her. I will try post the video in the future.

The Breakthrough

This is Mary J Blige new studio album, the 7th album to be exact. Titled 'The Breakthrough', this album is going to be her best so far.
Here review from amazon.com:
...perhaps more important is that nobody understands better how unquenchable our thirst to hear what it sounds like can be. The Breakthrough, contrary to run-up rumors, is no retrospective or greatest-hits package. Rather than reheat, Blige and producers Dr. Dre, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Will.i.am tasked themselves with stirring a river of hurt into some of the highest-caliber hip-hop/soul to hit the airwaves since she burned up the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack with "Not Gon' Cry." Cameos alone could sell this disc: Brook, Jay-Z, Raphael Saadiq, and Bono step up. But it's the trademark ragged-edged soul of its star that shines brightest throughout the 16 tracks. "A love that tears you down ain't really love," a laid-bare Blige reminds us on "Ain't Really Love," after dedicating "Good Woman Down" to "my troubled sisters." Somewhere in between, she leaves absolutely no room for doubt that she just can't be without her baby ("Be Without You"). It's an exhilarating, love-affirming moment on a CD jammed full of them (check out "Can't Get Enough," with its echoes of a pleading Curtis Mayfield). Blige, never far from the thoughts of the lovelorn, didn't need a breakthrough, but anybody with an ear for artful confession will be glad she's given us The Breakthrough anyway...
I've yet to listen to this album. I'll give the comments and ratings once i've listen to it.

Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke 20

And so it was a night of glamour last night during the Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke 20, organised by TV3 and sponsored by L'oreal Paris. Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke 20, kicked off when Muzik Muzik 20 started right after Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke 19 early 2005. A lot of songs battle for the highest spot for the final to be nominated in each category. The categories are, Malaysian Ethnic Music (also known Irama Malaysia), Pop Rock and Balada (Ballads that is). This year, the theme is 'Evolusi Muzik Berterusan' or 'Music Evolution Continues'. The idea behind this theme is that how local music industry has changing since the 50s right up to the new generation of millinieum.
Last night, we heard 12 songs battle it out to be the best among the best in their category and also to be the best of over all. The night kicked off with 'Red Carpet' event and followed by the main event.
Highlights of the night is performance by Ning Baizura's Awan Yang Terpilu (nominated fr Balada category) and Jaclyn Victor's Wajah and Gemilang (which also in the same category). Not to forget also other performances by Noraniza Idris which make me thinking whether the song is actually ethnic or rojak. Anyhow, Mawi as expected did make his fans cheering. And Hazami's Katakan.. did i have to say more? And also Adam's Tak Tahu.. God, it's like ala Lau Tak Wah or Aaron Kwok showcase!! and plus he sounded like KRU's brothers! But it kept show going on!
Well, while waiting for the result, we were treated by veteran and new artiste for the medley and mix. It is rather weird to hear all this sort of song but it keep the show going. One thing to improve.. the customes! OMG!! need me to say more! Need to re-think the colour coordination together with the performances!
Result:
Best Performance:
Mawi (Aduh Saliha)
I don't have to say anything as this result is base on 50% sms and 50% jury. We know how big his SMS fans is!!
Best Vocal:
Hazami (Katakan)
I don't know how the jury could chose Hazami to win this category. Those who watching the LIVE coverage or actually there watching it, should know who deserved this title. Jaclyn Victor has the best vocal for the night but Ning is a strong contender. So, the result has spoken.. now we know how our local music industry has 'evoluted'!
Best song in Irama Malaysia category:
Aduh Saliha (Mawi)
I don't need to say more..
Best Song in Pop Rock category:
Katakan (Hazami)
Well, i expected 'Gaia' would win but am wrong again.. so hard to predict!!
Best song in Balada category:
Gemilang (Jaclyn Victor)
Delievered it powerful, full with energy, show that she is really talented, sing her heart out. She is best among the best!
Winner of Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke 20:
Gemilang (Jaclyn Victor)
Need i say more? I'll try to get the video and post it here..
Will see how Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke 21 next year!!

Personally, i like this album. Not because i like her but simply this album is very personal to her. This is definitely a come back album for her.
